EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The road connecting the Northeast and Northwest parts of town is getting major upgrades, but that will come at the expense of drivers who take the picturesque route.

Local nonprofit Community en Accion will recognize Joe Rosales and Jose Santos at their first Latino Legacy Awards y Fiesta.

El Paso’s construction boom, which is building everything from new highways to schools, has created an acute shortage of workers that has local construction firms wondering:

TxDOT has selected J.A.R. Construction to perform the Darrington Road project and the widening of I-10 Zaragoza to Eastlake project.
Aside from funding, there is also a question about how to find the skilled labor to build all those roads and bridges — a labor pool that is already in short supply.
